Our latest paranormal investigation took place in the Georgian village of Tyrrellspass in County Westmeath.

Our investigation was in one of the buildings that forms part of the crescent of elegant Georgian buildings built around the village green in 1810 by Jane, Countess of Belvedere, who was wife of George Augustus Rochfort, the second earl of Belvedere.

Lady Jane, Countess of Belvedere
The Crescent formed part of the 'Estate Village' of Belvedere and included a school, a dispensary, the church and houses for important people associated with the Rochfort family. At this time the building was known as the Pound House, a place where people would come to negotiate the rent for a holding on the estate.
Below you can see a map of village from 1848, just before the famine:

And in 1910

And as it is today:

Over the course of the evening we moved around various rooms in the building. There were no unusual EMF readings and we tried several EVP sessions, but on listening back to the recordings we found nothing of note. There are several large rooms on the ground floor and 14 rooms on the first floor, and an attic type area on the level above known as the Crows Nest.
The following are everyone's impressions from the evening, along with us on this investigation was Michelle from the Bumpz in the Nite paranormal group:
MARK: "The 2nd room we were in is definitely one I want to spend more time in. I just felt there was something about it unlike any of the other rooms."
GRAHAM: "I spent some time alone in the room with the crib because I had a feeling about it but did not get any activity. I really got the impression of a woman during the EVP recording session in the bedrooms."
GAVIN: "I thought the crows nest was particularly eerie. I'm not one to be easily spooked."
NIALL: "It's an old building so there are a lot of drafts, the front door and some windows were open so fluctuating temperatures and breezes are part of the ambient conditions of this location. There were no alarming EMF variations in the rooms, the meter was never triggered. In the bar and kitchen we did not pay much attention to EMF variations as with any public house there were refrigeration units, pumps etc switching on and off constantly so there was little point in establishing a base line reading here in my opinion. The bar being one of the two focus areas with respect to client experiences was extremely loud and picking an audio recording up here would be difficult. Over all I'd like to go back and focus some more on the corridors are rattling keys were heard there, we used a large bunch of keys as a trigger object but I personally saw, heard or felt nothing out of the ordinary in this location. The staff were very friendly and I'd like to head back and have another look."
MICHELLE: "I liked the attic, and I got a weird feeling in the bathroom of room with the crib, when I went back to lock it up the door was open and I know I closed it tight"
